THE ENDURANCE OF FOOD AND FAITH

THE ENDURANCE OF FOOD AND FAITH
BY: RD. SEBASTIANUS EKA BS

Until when food is a necessity for every living creature , including humans . Without the presence of food and the assuredness of life will be threatened . Food really is a necessity that can never be separated from life . It is not surprising , that in order to get food living beings can or should fight and even war .

The situation then raises a question to ponder . Among other things , the extent to which we strive to maintain a presence and the assuredness of food and increase it ? In today's times , it seems the race to build a residential - housing . For the sake of it , a lot of the original location of paddy fields and the fields have been turned into buildings . Hopefully the future can be found and further be developed a way to grow crops on top of the buildings . It's already there , although limited to vegetables and fruits . Hopefully someday in the buildings people can plant cassava , rice , maize and others.

Today the Catholic Church celebrates World Food Day. Through this celebration , we as believers are also reminded of the basic necessities in our lives in this world , without forgetting the basic necessities to achieve eternal life . We are also called to foster awareness of it . Then the collection of Mass on this day we will also be offered in the framework of World Food Day as a manifestation of our concern for our brothers and sisters around the world are still struggling to eat . We also plead , may we all be kept from starving , and may God guide us all towards the welfare .

In this world , let's not just look for earthly food . We not only need to achieve food security . We also need to remember the resilience of our faith to lead a happy life eternal . Remember that prayer is not because we get food , but not for a full stomach and a good meal we will go to heaven . Stomach may be full , but pray do not ever be forgotten . Strive for the welfare and eat well off, well of course it is. But lest we forget that we also strive for lasting prosperity which is also a goal . Remain steadfast in the faith and always survive . Amen .
